I Love you (Eight Gaps)

Public commission for the 6th Art Prospect Festival, Saint Petersburg, RU.

Someone has painted the words I LOVE YOU on an exterior house wall, in letters as large as they could reach holding onto a ladder. Next to the words a section of wall is painted in red nuances. An intimate reclamation and romantic gesture, combined with warm colours is unusual in the public realm. Thrane’s commission for Art Prospect 2018 emphasises and explores the dynamics of this intimate meeting. Eight spaces between sheds are stuffed with folded clothing sourced locally, their colours echoing the wall colours.
