Earthly Remains
Site specific work for the exhibition Carte Verte at the French Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark.
By using the imposing architecture and the elegant Rococo interior of the embassy as a frame for used and dirty mattresses, Thrane makes two opposites meet. Earthly Remains affect the scent, acoustics and light of the space, resulting in a powerful sculptural work. The work occupies the space but also comes from the space, as it looks as if the color of the walls has been seeping into the work. The bodily and intimate is placed within a political context where it normally does not belong.
